The existing Cotton Pickin Fair enclosure generally follows the old feedlot fence.
Since this national and regional award-winning festival has been held on the first full weekend in May and October on the grounds of the year-old Gay Family Farmstead. Gay is a farm community that hosts the Cotton Pickin' Fair, a 21st century celebration of agritourism, in May and October.
Delicious southern foods cooked on-site and excellent regional entertainment combine to make a visit to the Fair a unique family. Today it is a rustic stage featuring the country music of The Honey Creek Boys. Seed cotton was stored in this building so a gin customer would not have to wait in line and the cotton was transported to the gin through suction pipes.
A rope drawn freight elevator in the center of the peach packing shed is still useful, today. It also offers hunting, fishing, sporting clay and equestrian activities at Big Red Oak Plantation and QC Arena. The small red brick building originally held the Delco Battery Plant that provided volt DC electricity to the town of Gay during the very early part of the 20th Century.

The main floor housed the farm office, general store, and post office; the basement housed the grocery department. The buildings held about tons of seed awaiting sale and delivery to cottonseed oil mills in Macon, Rome, and Atlanta. The Fair brings amazing artisans and antique dealers to a bucolic agrarian venue.
The W. Judge W. The Cotton Fair has been a staple in the community of Gay, Georgia for over 50 years. Wagons or trucks drove onto the scale fully loaded and again after unloading to determine how much cotton was delivered to the gin.
